Book Review: Thick Face, Black Heart
While the title of today’s book review may scare some away from readership, ‘Thick Face, Black Heart’ by Chin-Ning Chu presents readers with an ancient Chinese philosophy to manage daily struggles. The author goes into significant depth on how to manage your emotions in times of trouble and look at everything that happens to you from an objective lens, no matter how unfair things seem to be panning out.
“Thick Face” means being shameless, while “Black Heart” means ruthless when necessary towards your opponents. While many may steer clear of reading this book due to it’s somewhat sociopathic title, the underlying messages in the text are highly spiritual and enforce many Buddhist viewpoints.
In today’s uncertain economic times, where nobody knows when the next bank will collapse, if more layoffs are coming, or when the real estate market will finally normalize, ‘Thick Face, Black Heart’ can be an educational guide on how to manage tough times mentally and be prepared to attack when opportunity presents itself.
