The ONE Thing

In an ever distracted world, there are countless things you could be doing to get ahead. Whether it’s posting on social media, attending a networking event, or constantly checking your emails to be “responsive”. It seems that most folks overload themselves with doing many different things all at once, instead of diving deeper into what are the core components of what will move the needle.

I am guilty of this myself, but after reading Gary Keller’s book The One Thing, a few things started to click. Rather than being busy, I started to look at what was really driving my results, and started to do more of that. The weird thing is, I began to do less work, with similar and often times better results.

It is very likely that your ‘One Thing’ will be something that may not even enjoy doing that much. The boring work is surprisingly what usually moves the needle, but somebody’s gotta do it. Might as well be your One Thing, where you can knock it off your To Do, and then go home and relax. Better to do it that way, than spend 12-14 hours per day doing a slew of random things that are “sexy” but don’t get you anywhere.
