Enjoy Your Bathroom Time

Lots of us- scratch that, most of us don’t have the luxury of enormous bathrooms around the home. Even a lot of ensuite bathrooms don’t boast enough room for a shower, bathtub, double sink counters, heated floors, you name it. Needless to say, decorating these compact bathrooms can be a challenge. You might think, besides hanging a hand towel rod, what else am I supposed to do to liven it up in here? The answers are simpler than you think.

Break out your step stool and get that shower curtain hung as close to the ceiling as humanly possible. Cloth, greyscale shower curtains introduce a level of elegance into the space, and by letting them cascade all the way down, you’ve found a way to elongate the walls and make the room seem bigger.

Introduce neutral tones into the bathroom. Opt for vanities, rugs, and towels that are white or cream in color, as they soften the eye’s perception of the room.

Especially when the only counter space available in the bathroom is the measly three inches around the sink, you need to get creative with storage options. Consider adding some floating shelves to the bathroom wall; this will prevent cluttering in the vanity and, when organized and coordinated correctly, can not only add to the decoration of the room, but also puts the essential supplies within arms reach.

Bathroom artwork is an underrated tactic for adding color into the room. Use small, colorful pieces above the toilet or towel rack to make the space pop and allow for a visual component in a typically non-visual room.

Greenery is a must anywhere in your home, but especially so in the bathroom. Whether you choose a real or fake plant, they’ll make the space feel fresher and more energized. If you do have a little bit more wiggle room in terms of counter space, add the plant to the counter’s back corner. If you’re lucky enough to have double sinks in one of your bathrooms, adding a plant in the middle is a great move.
