Pumpkin Spice Up Your Home
It may be 85 degrees here in Chicago on the first day of September, but that won’t stop us from daydreaming about fall! We’ve been keeping our fingers on the pulse of incoming fall trends and are excited to see some resurgence of styles we love. There are a handful of things to transition your home into a more cozy, retro season. Let’s take a look at a few.
According to Sydney Meister of PureWow, the most prevailing trend for fall 2022 is the return of 70s, boho-chic decor. Blending together earthy tones like hunter green and mustard yellow with rattan and bamboo furniture/accent material works like a charm for this trend. Green has been dominating the world of design in recent years, so working it into your space will simultaneously give it a timeless and trendy feel.
Another subtle trend that aligns with the coming of fall is the addition of fringed accents to your space. Fringe items are definitely encompassed by 70s style and add a level of unique intrigue and elegance wherever they’re featured. Consider adding fringe material to the borders of an existing rug or carpet- it’s not a huge intrusion of fringe and it remains subtle enough to ward off tackiness. Accent pillows with fringe is another truly hassle-less way to achieve that retro look.
Muted checkerboard patterns are ideal for spicing up a room’s inherent neutrality. Checkerboard accents and bedding can pair with that same aforementioned green for a beautiful contrast. You don’t want to go overboard, however. Sparse out the heavily patterned accents so that the space doesn't become visually overwhelming.
Darker wood furniture pieces are classic, and they also fall into fall trends. Along with a darker wall color, these pieces can give a space a moody, sophisticated look. Not to mention, they’re also excellent for coziness.
