Be Careful What You Wish For
Well, well, well… the ‘winter storm of a generation’, as the media has called it, is upon us in the Midwest. As I sit here and pray that my flight back home actually happens, I think of all the times as a youngster in Arizona we would actually envy the folks that got snow in the winter. Maybe it’s my old joints, grumpy old man attitude, or me becoming a true Chicagoan, but the thought of becoming a snow bird with a property down south sounds pretty appealing now.
As business owners, we’re constantly thinking that the grass is greener on the other side, or if I could just scale to $X, then I’ll have made it. Let me tell you, I have spoken and networked with plenty of entrepreneurs with far greater businesses than mine, only to realize the issues we’re facing ain’t so different. Many times, their ‘war stories’ are far more hardcore than mine (bankruptcy, divorce, jail time, etc.) and the list goes on and on.
With that said, let’s give thanks this holiday season and some gratitude with what we have and where we’re at. As the saying goes, ‘Be careful what you wish for.’
Happy holidays to all!
